2006 Livermore Valley Petite Sirah: Organically Farmed |

Rosciano VineyardNow Available "bad-ass meets elegante" This organically farmed Petite Sirah is from Rosciano Vineyards in Livermore Valley, one of the premiere locations for California Petite Sirah. The hot climate of the Livermore Valley enhances the ripeness and results in extremely concentrated fruit. The grapes were crushed into small batch fermenters and hand punched-down during fermentation for an extended maceration of 28 days to ensure full extraction of flavor and tannin. The wine was aged for 15 months in a mix of new American Oak and neutral French Oak barrels. This difference in cooperage resulted in 2 distinct styles: one a giant oak monster, we deemed “Bad Ass” and the other more fruit-focused and nuanced, we deemed “Elegante.” Their marriage in this blend has proven to highlight the best of both styles. This huge wine shows a deep dark core of ripe plum and bramble berry fruit with toasted barrel components of cocoa, clove and caramel. It shows great balance of the big and the subtle and is ready to drink now! |
